Our team

Richard Farrand
CEO / President
Richard grew up in Minnetrista, Minnesota. His father and uncle ran several businesses, including a public insurance firm founded in 1972. Richard learned about business and hard work early. He sold calendars, candles, and flower seeds door to door as a child. These early steps sparked his passion for helping others.
After high school, Richard played football and attended college in Fergus Falls, MN, and Aberdeen, SD. He met his wife Shannon in college. He earned a bachelor's degree in theology and a master’s in transformational leadership from Bethel Seminary in St. Paul.
In 2000, Richard started an e-learning company that became a multi-million-dollar success. He has served as president of three non-profits and led men's transformational trips to Uganda. Eventually, he found his true calling—helping people win fair insurance claims.
Today, Richard leads Farrand Claim Consulting with honesty, vision, and a client-first mindset. He and Shannon live in Andover, MN, and enjoy time with their four adult daughters.
"When you file a claim, your insurer sends their adjuster, not yours. Most people stay quiet and hope for fairness. But hope is not a strategy. You deserve everything your policy allows. That’s where we come in."

Shannon Farrand
Owner/Education Ambassador
Shannon brings a lifetime of experience and empathy to Farrand Claim Consulting. Growing up in a military family gave her resilience, empathy, and adaptability.
She spent 25 years as a registered nurse and even served on a Mercy Ships medical mission in Africa. These roles taught her how to listen, support, and solve problems under pressure.
Shannon's journey into public adjusting began after her own home burned down. She struggled with the insurance process and realized how badly people need an advocate during tough times.
Now, she works every day to make sure no one feels alone after a loss.
"When I lost everything, I didn’t know someone like me existed. That pain is what drives me today. No one should go through that without help."

Khadija Gul
Marketing Manager
Khadija leads Farrand’s brand and communication strategy. She holds a bachelor's degree in mass communication and has a strong background in advertising, social media, film, and content creation.
Khadija's creativity is fueled by her love for nostalgic storytelling. She draws inspiration from classic films, music and art. Her strategic mindset, paired with artistic vision, ensures the Farrand brand connects with clarity and heart.
When not working, she enjoys film, family time, travel and most importantly, cats.

Todd Rooker
Interim CFO
Todd grew up on a family farm in Crookston, Minnesota, where he learned the value of hard work and financial resilience. During the Farm Crisis of the mid-1980s, he began working on complex estate planning issues, which shaped his lifelong commitment to asset protection and strategic financial planning. A fourth-generation U.S. Navy veteran, Todd believes that military strategy should guide financial decisions—disciplined, calculated, and built for long-term success.

Public Adjuster FAQ – Answers You Can Trust
Have questions about hiring a public adjuster in Minnesota or navigating property insurance claims? This public adjuster FAQ page provides straightforward answers to help you make informed decisions, protect your rights, and secure the settlement you deserve.
A public insurance adjuster is a licensed professional who works for YOU, not the insurance company. Public adjusters represent policyholders during property insurance claims, helping interpret policy language, assess losses, and negotiate for a higher settlement. Unlike insurance adjusters, we’re on your side.
Most public adjusters work on a contingency fee basis, meaning we only get paid when you receive a payout. Fees typically range from 10% to 20% of your claim, depending on the size and complexity of the case. This aligns our motivation with yours.
Because the insurance company’s adjuster protects their bottom line. A public adjuster defends yours. We challenge low offers, explain complex policy terms, and ensure all your damages are properly valued and covered.
Every claim is different. Some resolve in weeks, others take months. But hiring a public adjuster typically shortens the timeline. We keep documentation in order and drive progress forward.
Simple: who we work for.
- Insurance company adjusters protect insurers.
- Public adjusters, like us at Farrand Claim Consulting, advocate solely for you.
- Where it says: “Fees typically range from 10% to 20% of your claim.”
- Change to: “Fees for Public Adjusting services are usually around 10% of your claim.”
